Family Matters

“Me and my friends had such a laugh. It was a great night. Ginny is a very talented lady and I and the crowd were literally crying with laughter. We can’t wait for the next show.”

“What I loved about Ginnys show is that you can relate to the performance as it is a hilarious look at real life. Its a real family show and a brilliant night out. You need to see it to believe how funny it is.”

Ruth Rich, middle-class, midlife mother of teenage children, has returned to middle England after a spell abroad with Husband’s work. Dragging herself to consciousness from dreams of close encounters with Colin Firth, she charts a hapless and obstacle-strewn path through issues all too familiar to parents of hormonal teenagers – smoking, body piercing, driving lessons, arguments over who sleeps where when a boyfriend comes to stay etc. Through a process of trial and (mostly) error, Ruth learns how not to behave at school football matches and what not to say about cosmetic surgery and your friends’ sex lives. She decides to throw a homecoming party to reintegrate the family into the local community. Friends old (the perfect and perfectly awful 34DD-cupped Timmy’s mum) and new (the possibly even worse control freak Rachel’s mum) gather for what turns into the party from hell. The moral of the story: family matters.
Running time: 1 hour 5 minutes. (Interval optional)

(Not suitable for children under 12)

Audience Reaction

Really classy!

“Really classy! Ruth Rich is a great character and her quiet charm works its magic just brilliantly.”

Ali Boag, Director of The Stahl Theatre, Oundle, Northants.

Davis' sheer versatility is dazzling

“I suppose what Davis performs is a monologue, but she populates the stage before you so convincingly that it’s hard to believe she’s alone. A whole raft of very different characters are conjured up, each beautifully observed, exquisitely drawn and often cringingly familiar. Tetchy teenagers (That is SO gross!), fearsome dog walkers (Bertie, wait…), their dogs (poor Bertie, a west highland terrier waiting to defecate on command, his agonised expressions worthy of Michael Crawford’s Frank Spencer), Scandinavian tuna wholesalers: Davis’ sheer versatility is dazzling.”

Alison Nichol-Smith, Stratford upon Avon

What a night!!

“What a night!! Your performance in Alrewas was magnificent. Laugh, I never stopped. Great show.”

Lynsey Cable, Alrewas, Staffs

Teenage behaviour...

“Our granddaughter aged 17 was both amused and impressed by the accuracy of your observations on teenage behaviour.”

Mary Jones, Ettington

Clever and wry

“A clever and wry look at the challenges of being a mother and wife which had plenty of laughs and some uncomfortably familiar moments”
